FYI: My notes on the installation: Installed 4/17/12 w/o any problems.

The color is completely different than before; the red-blue (magenta) push
has been removed and balanced nicely with skin tone colors. This means that the red-blue-green has been balanced to produce a naturally "white" neutral tone.

I didn't like it at first but after a few minutes, it's terrific. Now can change
channels and/or satellites and get the same picture with very little differences.

Unzip file and copy to SD flash disk. Turn on TV and then insert SD disk into SD card slot. The TV then puts up an install menu; follow the commands.

At completion, hold POWER button on TV for 5 secs; TV resets and comes on.
Thanks Jim. I sent you a email.

It was too big for my provider so I sent it to my domain. . . . click the link below to d/l if you want to update the TV to the Panasonic 2.1 FW Luminance patch.

www.k6jrf.com/N113_2100.zip
-> Copy this link into a NEW browser window.. Execute it to start the download <-

Installation Instructions:
Copy the file to a blank SD disk. If the TV is on, turn it OFF. Then insert the SD disk into the SD card slot. Now turn on TV.
The TV then puts up an install menu; follow the commands.
At completion, hold POWER button on TV for 5 secs; TV resets and comes on.

Thanks for the 2.1 download! Something Panasonic won't offer anymore due to their POOR customer service. Love the update but doubt I buy another Panasonic anything with the way their customer service has treated past plasma buyers these days.

Glad that it worked for you. Now you can try my "THX" settings . . . .

I'll leave it on my domain for a while . . . in case others may need it.

Thanks Jim.

Love your settings! They look great!!

What happened to the D-Nice THX settings for comparison? Did he leave and erase them? Anyone have them to post for options? I know every TV differs somewhat.

Thanks

Tnx for for trying my THX settings . . . it verifies that you must install the Panny 2.1 Luminance Patch for my settings to work properly. I've always thought that is the case.

I agree. The 2.1 patch settings definitely make a difference.

Just make sure you reapply the 2.2 online update after doing the 2.1 SD card update. The 2 together make these Panasonic Plasmas 10 times better in picture quality IMO. IMO they stand with the best out there today.

Hi Jim.

I haven't followed the forum as much in recent times but received an update re: your settings and the download for the update. I just tried to download the file but it no longer seems to be available. I hate to trouble you, but would you be willing to make it available again?

Thanks.

Rich

LOL, never mind. I realized that if I cut and pasted the address in my browser (rather than click on the link in the message) it would work.

Thanks again. Looking forward to trying this out.

Ok, AVS Forum adds their prefix which makes it open a new AVS Forum page.
You have to copy the link, then open a new browser window and execute the link to get the download started.

You are a great asset for Panasonic GT30, etc... owners Jim. Thanks for all the help! My Panasonic plasma has never looked so great. So glad I repaired it.

I was in my local Best Buy the other day and say a few LG OLED's. They looked great but IMO not any better than the Panasonic Plasmas that are now gone. Of course that was a in store view but still. IMO the plasmas hold up very well with the best picture quality out there today. They definitely beat 99% of the new LCD and LED TV's out today.

Thank You again!

Yes, I agree 100%. I too am glad that I repaired my GT30. The picture is so much more life-like than any other TV in my home. I really am not looking forward to the day, I HAVE to replace my Panny plasma. Enjoy your new TV!

Same here. I really love this tv. If it does die again though I guess I will go for a LG OLED as a replacement.

Would most owners replace their GT30 with an LG OLED model? I am so happy with my GT30 that I dread the though of having to someday replace it with any current models as from all of the reviews I am readying, none seem as overall as good except for when we consider 4k content.

I have a Sony oled and 950B but I still have my 55 GT30 in the bedroom kicking strong over 6years, it surpassed the 5yr square trade warranty I had on it....
